Mike Leigh is my favourite british director. Meantime is set in east London in the thatcher years and like a lot of british films set in that time, it lies around unemployment. No other director gets so deep into the characters and protrays life as real as he does. The characters as complex as they would be if u tried to understand someone in less than 2 hours. The film never gives away the true thinking behind the mind which makes it so captivating. Excellent acting (Tim Roth, Phil Daniels, Gary Oldman, Jeff Robert), amazing dialog as u would usually find in a mike leigh film. Also watch All or Nothing which is similar and just as dope!

Project one screening on the National Theatre

'Highlights from the BFI National Archive’s extensive collection of films from our own back yard. Brief City (Jacques Brunius, Maurice Harvey | 1952 | 19 mins) is a joyous tribute to the creative vision of the 1951 Festival of Britain, an event that easily combined pioneering design with seaside postcard vulgarity. In We Are the Lambeth Boys (Karel Reisz | 1959 | 52 mins) members of Alford House, a youth club in Oval, share their hopes and frustrations. The journey comes full circle in Project One (Yohan Forbes | 2009 | 7 mins), a skateboarder’s odyssey from the Thames Barrier to the South Bank.'

C'est arrivé près de chez vous (1992)
A camera crew follows a serial killer/thief around as he exercises his craft. He expounds on art, music, nature, society, and life as he offs mailmen, pensioners, and random people.
This fim was made by 3 belgium students for their graduation. I stole this review cause i can't be bothered to write one: "Man Bites Dog" is a dark comedy truly unlike anything else you've seen. Its also one of the most brilliant satirical commentaries on the celebrity the media makes of murder and the exploitation often involved. It manages to make these points with much more subtly than "Natural Born Killers". Also, it isn't overloaded with the flashy overindulgence of that film and has a fascinatingly stark and minimalist style.
